Project Description

Aegg Creative Packaging design, manufacture and supply premium food containers. They produce their own range of food packaging, as well as offering a bespoke, creative design service.

The Challenge

Prior to 2008, Aegg’s designing was done by a local CAD draftsman. Work was slow, aesthetics were dated and as a newcomer to the highly competitive food packaging sector, Aegg were struggling to gain traction in the market.

Aegg needed an exciting proposition and a way to differentiate themselves from their established, yet boring competitors. Realise identified three key objectives to achieve this:

  • Great product design to secure new contracts and win competitor business
  • Bold, new branding and communication to ensure a positive reception from the market
  • On-demand concept design, CAD and prototyping to react quickly to customer needs

The Solution

The solution was simple – ‘design led’ packaging – both bespoke containers and an ‘off the peg’ range. Aegg appointed us as their outsourced design team and we set about researching, sketching, modelling and prototyping countless designs.

Given that we are designing small, simple containers, each project’s lifetime is relatively quick. It is this fast turnaround and high frequency that has cemented our expertise at designing and prototyping simple plastic parts. Our ability to create good looking, desirable products is tested to the limit when combined with the very strict requirements for manufacture, transport and filling requirements.

The Results

We have produced in excess of 130 product designs, many of which are successfully in production and winning business away from key competitors. Together, our client list currently includes Waitrose, M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Gu, Glorious Foods and many more.
